PRIMARY FUNCTION: 

This position is responsible for maintaining inventory levels sufficient to provide quality service to customers as established by Management. Also, responsible for maintaining inventory turnover and service percent to maximize profits, and help solve any problems related to GPAX parts.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Maintain inventory levels. Change Poisson Table, and manually set up and delete parts from stock.
  • Maintain inventory at all levels to minimize carving cost and maximize profits.
  • Monitor reports on inventory activity.
    • Look at daily reports on Web Extender to insure system is working efficiently and correctly.

 

  • Monitor and suggest modifications to current system.
  • Report and check out problems as they arise. Correct problems in the system, make changes as needed, and update the system to maximize profits.
  • Provide inventory data to upper Management.
  • Send out monthly reports to management and write programs to keep management informed of inventory for decision making.
  • Provide support, training, and help with problem solving in the Parts area of GPAX.
  • Report cost of sales, inventory value, service percentage, and turnover to management by Branch.
  • Download data for parts barometer monthly report for Caterpillar.
  • Set up reports for non-moving items, purge inventory of surplus stock, non-returnable parts, bin sequences, no demand moves, fast parts to the front of the warehouse, etc. 
  • Keep up with the exchange cores, the average cost of each unit, reconcile nine accounts, and add new units to exchange as needed.
  • Maintain CAT core tracking files to delete old cores, and report to CAT on cores that will not be returned.
  • Reconcile core account, surplus account, and DPIS account
  • Maintain and update mark-up and discount program tables for customers. Work with Donaldson representative and PSSR's to setup Donaldson filter program.
  • Administer Internet PartStore, by setting up registered users, maintaining GPAX Internet parameters, and supporting user questions and problems, maintaining promotional pages and store location messages within the Parts Store Dealer Maintenance Tool.
  • Provide training and process improvement solutions to parts department.
  • Create queries to download transaction and inventory data from GPAX files for executives, business unit managers, PSSR's, salesmen, parts managers, and warranty analyst.
  • Support 48 barcode scanners software programming, repairs, and GP delivery application.
  • Support core inspection department when discrepancies arise with core inspections and core processing procedures.
  • Maintain and update all customer parts markup and discount programs and tables in GPAX.
  • Identify problems with TEPS and AMD dealer pricing table files when discrepancies in pricing arise.
  • Administrator for CAT PCS (Parts Commercial System) the Cat discount programs.
  • Correct all GPAX parts accounting griefs for documents, inventory adjustments, and invoices.
  • Answer accounting and invoicing questions from the parts departments.
  • Process backorders for 12 locations when needed in a backup capacity.
  • Evaluate backorder requests to Cat when machine is down or urgent orders. Request ESD's, ESD improvements, and elevation of requests to supervisory levels.
  • Assist service department in work order closing issues such as discounts, error messages for cores and other issues that arise from work order processing.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education: See abovePhysical:  Must have advanced intermediate skills in PC software, preferably MS Excel, Access, and Word. Some programming a plus (Visual Basic, SQL, etc.) 
     
  • Need to learn the entire Parts System training in Bookkeeping or Accounting.
     
    Other:
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in person and by phone with customers and work extended periods with a PC and keyboard.
     
  • Work Experience:
  • Four-year college degree in business or management with at least two years in parts/inventory supervision/management, or two-year college degree in business or management with at least four years in parts/inventory supervision/management.
